

Rev. Dale Vernon Sidle of Columbus went to be with the Lord on Thursday, June 14, 2012, at the Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility. Born April 16, 1919, in Toboso, Ohio, he was the son of David Vernon and Velva Viola Victor Sidle. He married June Loese Collins August 29, 1940, in Hanover, Ohio.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a medic. Dale served more than five decades as an ordained elder in the Church of the Nazarene. He ministered in Ohio, Wisconsin and Indiana and served as treasurer of the South West District of the Church of the Nazarene for 13 years. He was born to a musical family and enjoyed playing violin, guitar, banjo, mandolin and piano.
Surviving are his three daughters, Janet (Tom) Charles of Kurtz, IN, Martha (Kenneth) Barmore of Sellersburg, IN and Ruth (John) Quinn of Columbus, IN; and Roy Jr. of Heath, OH. He has 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Kenny (Evelyn) Sidle of Hanover, OH, and Wayne (Myrna) Sidle of Newark, OH; and sisters, Millie McKenzie, Marge Schmidt, and Vernie (Carl Dean) Smith, all of Newark, OH, and Eleanor Robinson of Frazeysburg, OH.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife June, Aug. 2, 2003; a daughter, Mary Viola Hanner; and brothers, Roy and Chester Sidle.
A Celebration of Life will be conducted 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at First Church of the Nazarene on McClure Road with Rev. Bryan Solomon and Dr. Garry Pate officiating. Calling will be Monday from 4 until 8 p.m. at Myers-Reed Chapel on 25th Street and from 9:30 a.m. Tuesday until service time at the church. Burial will be in Garland Brook Cemetery with military rites by the Bartholomew County Veterans Color Guard.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of South Central Indiana, First Church of the Nazarene or the Gideon Society.
