Doris was born in Mannheim, Germany June 12, 1940, the daughter of Josef and Gertrud Wilhelm Kaiser.
She loved ceramics, gardening, and flowers and loved all kinds of animals.
She is survived by her husband, Melvin C. Bird; daughter Roswitha Louw; sons, Clifton and Richard Bird, Brother, Norbert; sisters. Karin, Gerda and Monika; 8 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Gerhard, Frank and Alfred; sister, Renate.
Visitation will be held 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at Myers~Reed Chapel on 25th Street. A burial service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Madison, Indiana with Pastor Steve Pumphery officiating.
