Frederick P. Hales, 80, of Columbus, passed away Friday, February 7, 2025, at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born July 24, 1944, in Minehead, Sommerset, England to Frederick and Irene (Morse) Hales. They preceded him in death.
Mr. Hales was a veteran of the Royal Navy. He was also a founding partner of Tsune America, a leading manufacturer of circular sawing materials.
Frederick enjoyed golfing, bowling, playing poker, and model railroading. He and his wife, Christine, also loved to travel. Frederick had a great sense of humor and was loved by all.
Mr. Hales was also proud of his family history, especially that which related to his family’s military service. He even did a presentation on the DeHavilland Queen Bee, a radio-controlled, reusable aircraft used as a target for anti-aircraft gunnery training in World War II.
Mr. Hales is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Christine Hales of Columbus; sons, Philip (Christy) Hales, and Graham (Sonya) Hales, both of Columbus; grandchildren, Ian (Day) Hales, Emily (Clay) Yeaton, Adam Hales, Elizabeth (Mitchell) Miller, and Carolina Hales; and great-grandchildren, Margot and Luna. Also surviving is a sister, Valerie Hales of Canada.
The funeral service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, February 13, 2025, at Myers-Reed Chapel with Rev. Steve Yeaton, officiating.
Visitation will also be Thursday from 5 – 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorials in Frederick’s name are suggested to Riley Hospital for Children or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
