Gordon L. Blancett

Gordon L. Blancett, 79, of Columbus, died Tuesday May 19, 2020. He was born on October 31, 1940 to Clifford and Alice (Armuth) Blancett. They preceded him in death. Gordon was a veteran of the US Army serving during the Vietnam War. He was also a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church. Mr. Blancett was a farmer with the family farm, Blancett Seed Corn. He also worked at Benzol Cleaners before starting his own carpet cleaning business, Blancett Carpet Cleaning. Mr. Blancett was an avid sports enthusiast, golfer and bowler. He was a member of Otter Creek Golf Course, VFW Post 1987, and American Legion Post 24. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Glenn Blancett; and a nephew, Brent Blancett. Survivors include his loving wife of 34 years, G. Darylene Blancett; son, Lance Marsh of Elizabethtown; grandson, Kyle Marsh of Columbus, who lovingly called Gordon "Grampy"; nephew, Bruce (Katie) Blancett of Goshen, KY; and great-nephews, Mason Blancett of Goshen, KY, and Blake Blancett of Goshen, KY. The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, May 23, 2020 at Myers-Reed Chapel with Pastor Mark Teike officiating. Burial will follow at Garland Brook Cemetery with military rites accorded by the Bartholomew County Combined Honor Guard. Close friends and family will be received on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. In keeping with social distancing guidelines you may be asked to wait outside.
