

Jean was born August 2, 1932 in Moulton, Iowa, to Leslie and Florence Howard Kirby. She was a homemaker, loving and caring wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was an avid bowler, gardener and enjoyed sewing. Jean was like a grandmother to the many children in her neighborhood because she babysat for many parents.
Surviving are her three children, George (Kathy) Champ of Greenwood, Indiana, Richard Champ of Lacona, Iowa, Peggy (Tom) Witt of Jeffersonville, Indiana; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; three brothers, Pete Kirby, Richard Kirby and Delbert Kirby all of whom live in Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and three sisters.
A gathering of family and friends will be from 4 to 5 p.m. Tuesday with a Celebration of Ilo’s life at 5 p.m. in the Chapel at the Franklin United Methodist Community. In keeping with Ilo’s wishes, cremation is planned. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Alzheimer Association, P.O. Box 96011, Washington, DC 20090-6011.
