

Mrs. Murphy graduated from high school in Royal Oak, MI, in 1945, and attended Manchester College. She was a homemaker and also worked for Union Starch several years ago.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church and was active in the church's Women’s Circle, was active with the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra and later Pro Musica. She volunteered at the Cancer Center and she and her husband drove for Red Cross prior to establishment of the local Cancer Center.
A memorial service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Monday at First United Methodist Church with Dr. Gary Schaar officiating. Calling will be at the church from 1 p.m. until service time Monday. Private inurnment will be at Garland Brook Mausoleum.
Memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church, the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.
Arrangements were made by Myers-Reed Chapel on 25th Street.
Born in Detroit, Mich., Aug. 8,1927,Mrs. Murphy was the daughter of Forest LeRoy and Helen Lenore Rose Drake. She married George C. Murphy Oct. 16, 1948, in Bloomfield Hills, Mich. He survives.
Also surviving are daughters, Cyndi (Stephen) Dixon of Indianapolis, Donna Jeanne Murphy of Marblehead, Mass., and Betsy (Lanny) Voss of Hamptonville, NC; sons, George Michael (Megan Wren) Murphy of St. Louis, MO, and Brian Patrick Murphy of Clarksville, IN; a brother, Richard Drake of Tyler, TX; six grandchildren: five great-grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and several stepgreat-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Leona Kreider.
