Kenneth Lee Mundy, known affectionately as Kenny, peacefully passed away on July 5, 2023, at the age of 89, in Columbus, IN. He was born on February 5, 1934, in Mitchell, IN, to the late Arthur and Mary Mundy. Kenny was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Kenny possessed an admirable character, filled with love, compassion, and a delightful sense of humor. His presence was a source of comfort and joy, as he shared his heartwarming stories with those around him. A devoted family man, Kenny's love for his children and grandchildren knew no bounds. He took immense pride in their accomplishments and provided unwavering support throughout their lives.
Dedicating four years of his life to serving his country, Kenny served in the Army with honor and distinction. After his military service, he embarked on a remarkable career at Cummins Engine Company, where his dedication and hard work spanned an impressive 40 years. Kenny's commitment to excellence significantly contributed to the company's success.
Outside of his professional endeavors, Kenny found solace in simple pleasures. He cherished moments spent driving around, accompanied by the melodies of his favorite music. However, his greatest joy came from spending time with his beloved wife of 69 years, Goldie. He would go and visit her every single day from sunrise to sunset and they shared every single meal together, always ensuring Goldie never felt alone.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, July 9, from 2-5 pm at the esteemed Myers-Reed Chapel, located at 3729 25th Street, Columbus, IN 47203. The funeral service will take place on Monday, July 10, beginning at 11 am. Friends and family are invited to pay their respects during the showing, which will commence at 10 am. Kenny will be laid to rest at Garland Brook Cemetery in Columbus, Indiana.
Kenny leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. He is survived by his devoted wife, Goldie Mundy, his son Kenneth (Cindy) Mundy, his daughter Kelly (Jay) Miller, and his youngest daughter Kristina (Chris) Dunlap. His memory will also be forever treasured by his grandchildren: Chelsea (Nick) Banister, Kelsay Mundy, Kaitlyn Galloway, Cailyn Arnholt, Lynley Arnholt, Jackson Dunlap, Emerson Dunlap, and Kiersten Dunlap. Additionally, Kenny's great-grandchildren, Chloe Blount, Madilyn Blount, and Callahan McMindes, will forever carry his love in their hearts.
Preceding him in death are his parents, Arthur and Mary (Donaldson) Mundy, and his beloved granddaughter, Kimberly Mundy.
