Larry E. Grider, 87, of Columbus, passed away peacefully on April 30, 2025, at Keepsake Village of Columbus. He was born August 14, 1937, in Monroe County, KY, to John and Tilda V. (Anderson) Grider. They preceded him in death.
A devoted member of Lakeview Church of Christ, Larry lived a life grounded in faith, humility, and service to others. He was known by all who loved him as an honest, hard-working man of few words, whose quiet strength and deep love for his family spoke volumes.
Born and raised with a strong work ethic, Larry spent his career at Golden Foundry, Vernco, and Cummins. Beyond his professional life, he found joy in simple pleasures—listening to country and bluegrass music, playing euchre with his children and grandchildren, and spending time browsing garage sales in search of hidden treasures. A passionate collector, he was a proud member of the Coca-Cola Collectors Club, always on the lookout for memorabilia and antiques that told stories of the past.
Larry’s life was defined by his generosity and his unwavering support for those around him. Whether offering a helping hand or sharing a quiet moment, he made a lasting impact on the lives he touched. His legacy is carried on by his loving family and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
He will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever cherished.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Shelby Grider; a brother, Earl Grider; and a son-in-law, Phillip Anderson.
Survivors include his loving wife of almost 68 years, Betty G. Grider; children, Barbara Anderson of Indianapolis, Randy (Julie) Grider of Rock Hill, SC, and Robert (Anita) Grider of Columbus; and grandchildren, Chris (Sarah) Anderson, David (Becca) Anderson, Paige Grider, Claire Grider, Lindsey Grider, Lauren Grider, and Owen Grider. Also surviving are several great-grandchildren.
