

Lucille was preceded in death by her first husband, Clinton Lee O’Neill; her second husband, Robert Ross MacDonald; her parents, Edgar and Mary Talkington; her brothers, Robert and Donald Talkington; her sons, Roger Dean and Fred Randall O’Neill; and her grandsons Shawn Tyler and Bucky Daniel O’Neill.
Lucille was born in Indianapolis on Oct. 26, 1920, and attended Manual High School in Indianapolis. She worked as a homemaker, a teller at Joe Finnegan Theaters and at Irwin Union Bank in Columbus, Indiana. She resided in Columbus, Indiana; Atlanta, Georgia; and Mt. Brook, Alabama.
She loved keeping in touch with her many friends and family and never missed sending birthday cards or a chance to go for a visit. She felt blessed to live such a long life, getting to travel to many states and foreign countries, cheering for the Alabama Crimson Tide football team and attending many grandchildren's weddings and sporting events all across the country.
In her younger years, Lucille was an avid horsewoman, riding in parades and horse shows in Indiana. She was currently a member of Canterbury United Methodist Church in Mt. Brook, Alabama.
Lucille will be fondly remembered by her son, Danny (Shirley) O’Neill; step-children Bruce (Robin) MacDonald, Marcia (Craig) Jacobs and Sue (Barry) Darby; nieces, Barbara (Merrill) Simmerman, Sherry (Ron) Shumate; and nephew Gary Zink.
She will also be fondly remembered by her loving family in Birmingham who looked after and cared for all of her personal needs for many years: daughter-in-law, Irene O’Neill; step-daughter, Sue Darby; grandsons, Kelby (Bradley) O’Neill and Kyler (Lane) O’Neill; and her devoted neighbors, Michael and June Adams. “Nana” was blessed with 14 grandchildren and six step-grandchildren who were the light of her life: Angela, Bailey, Brandon, Brett, Bryant, Bucky, Christopher, Clint, Cyndie, Kelby, Kelly, Kyler, Michael, Patrick, Robbie, Ross, Shawn, Ted, Teresa and Tim; 24 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.
Calling will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 25, 2016, at the Myers Reed Chapel, 3729 25th St., Columbus, and from 9 a.m. until the funeral service at 10:00 a.m.Saturday, March 26, 2016. Burial will follow at Garland Brook Cemetery.
