Marilyn Jane (Kier) Schwartzkopf

4 julio , 193429 diciembre , 2020

Marilyn Jane Kier Schwartzkopf departed this world to her heavenly home on December 29, 2020 at 2:00 am. She always was a night owl. Born in Cincinnati to Maynard and Catherine Stucker Kier on July 4, 1934, she was a “firecracker” who loved the fact that the whole country celebrated her birthday. She graduated from Hughes High School in Cincinnati and Purdue University where she was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta sorority. It was at Purdue that she met her beloved husband Roy to whom she was married for over 50 years until his passing in 2014. After school, she and Roy lived in Germany where he was stationed in the army. Returning to the US afterwards, they settled in Roy’s hometown of Columbus where they raised their children Susan and Bob. She was a good and faithful servant of God and an active member of St Peter’s Lutheran Church. Marilyn was a dietician and nutritionist and used these skills to co-run a catering company as a young woman. Throughout her life, she was an exceptional cook and used her talent to make life fun, delicious and beautiful for her family and friends. Throughout her years in Columbus, she was always involved in the community. This included being president of Donner Swim Club, co-chairing the St Peter’s Food Booth at the Fair, and co-chairing the UnCommon Cause. She was also one of the organizers of the Boars Head Festival at St Peter’s where she designed and made the costumes for the annual Christmas celebration. Marilyn had a zest and love for life, always relishing new things and new adventures. She did not hesitate jumping into things whether it was learning transcendental meditation, selling Shaklee products, arranging special vacations for the family, or owning a couple of horses and learning how to care for them from books at the library. She was preceded in death by her husband Roy, her parents, and her brother Robert Kier. Marilyn is survived by her daughter Susan Schwartzkopf of Lake Worth, Florida, her son Robert (Sarah) Schwartzkopf of Columbus and her grandchildren Samual Schwartzkopf of Hawaii, and Mary (Matt Belcher) Marr and Hallie Schwartzkopf of Columbus. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to St Peter’s Lutheran Church Foundation, Columbus, IN. I am sorry to hear about the passing of Marilyn.

I am the son of the late Mary E. Stucker and Virgil Green Jr. Just today (1/3/21)I was going thru my parents old photos and wedding album which has been stored away for many years, Between the pages where a couple clippings I have never seen before from the wedding announcement of Marilyn Kier. ( I have attached them in a file). In another box I found an envelope from a Christmas card in 1966. We moved a lot during those years and was hard to keep track of us which you can see in the forwarding addresses.

It was just too ironic that I made two separate discoveries today from the Schwartzkopf family, a name that was not familiar to me. I was curious as to why my Mom would have saved these wedding announcements and what was their relationship.

I went on-line tonight to see if I could possibly find this connection. I was shocked to read that Marilyn had just passed a few days ago,

Just thought you might like to see these clippings and wanted to express my condolences to the entire family. I wish I would have found these a few years ago and might have heard from Marilyn about the friendship between her and my Mother.

Warm regards,

Rick Green

Marilyn will be missed so greatly for her kind and caring spirit. I formed a dear connection with her over 30 years of seeing her in the dental office. She was so so proud of her children - daughter in law and grandchildren She always had a smile - even with difficulties in health - she always had a energetic spirit! God bless you all as you move forward without her here but know she is in her eternal home with Roy !
Sincerely,
Kristi Nolker, L.D.H.
