Robert J. Crissinger, 74, of Columbus, died Tuesday August 27, 2019 at Columbus Regional Hospital. Mr. Crissinger was born July 3, 1945, the son of Larry and Lois (Keck) Close, who preceded him in death. He was a 1962 graduate of Grant Union High School, Sacramento, CA. He then enlisted in the US Navy and was a meteorologist stationed in Key West. He also retired from Rockwell Automation in 2003 after 40 years of employment. Robert was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church. He loved watching IU basketball, Colts football and NASCAR. He also loved the 4th of July and watching fireworks, shooting pool and playing cards with family and friends. He also loved animals and Christmas. Survivors include his loving wife of 47 years, Diane K. Crissinger; children, Dena (Keith) Otipoby of Lexington, KY, and Ryan (Jessica) Crissinger of Columbus; granddaughters, Alison, Emmalee and Elisabeth Otipoby, all of Lexington, KY, and Avanleigh, Vivienne, Evelynn, and Harlan Crissinger, all of Columbus; and a brother, Jay Close of Sacramento, CA. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday August 30, 2019 at Myers-Reed Chapel. Burial will follow at Garland Brook Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorials in Robert's name are suggested to either the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation or to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana.
