Mr. Camp was a veteran of the US Army during the Vietnam Era. He was a decoder in Germany and later, a recruiter for the Columbus/Indianapolis area. He retired from the Army, with honors, in 1978 earning the rank of Master Sergeant.
William was also an avid golfer and was proud of his seven holes-in-one. He was a former member of the Greensburg Country Club where he was the 1984 Club Champion. Additionally, he was a former member of the Greenbelt Golf Course. He also loved horse racing and was a member of the American Legion Post 24, Columbus.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, James; and a sister, Edith.
Survivors include his loving son, Samuel (Lesley) Camp of North Vernon; daughter, Stephanie (Joe) Snakovsky of Columbia Station, OH; and grandchildren, Peyton, Connor, Taylor, Allison, Trey, Trevor, Daniel, and Sarah.
Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, August 30, 2024 at Myers-Reed Chapel. Burial will follow at Garland Brook Cemetery with military honors provided by the Bartholomew County Honor Guard.
Visitation will also be Friday from 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
