

Mr. Chisman was born in Lisbon, North Dakota on February 05, 1922, the son of the late William E. and Beulah K. Armacost Chisman.
He and his wife, Dorothy, were married on May 15, 1948 in Elgin, Illinois, and she survives.
Mr. Chisman was a Lieutenant, Junior Grade, in the United States Navy, serving during World War II. He ended his military service as the Executive Officer of LST 883 in the Pacific.
He attended North Dakota State University prior to WWII and was a graduate of Purdue University in Lafayette, IN following the war.
Mr. Chisman was a Real Estate Broker in Lisbon, ND and Houston, Texas, before retiring in 1987.
He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Lisbon, ND and a member of the Bartholomew County (Indiana) Genealogical Society. He was a former member of the Kiwanis International and the Toastmasters.
A memorial service celebrating the life of Mr. Chisman will be held at 3:00 pm on Wednesday, November 09, 2011 at Hathaway-Myers Chapel on Pearl St. with Dr. William Griffith officiating. Military honors will be performed by members of the Bartholomew County Veterans Color Guard.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to the Hospice of South Central Indiana in Columbus.

Surviving with his wife of 63 years, Dorothy, are his children William III (Billie), Mary (Larry) and Jane (Blake), and his grandchildren William IV, Michael, Kate, Luke and Angel (Tony), and great-grandchild Katelyn.
Mr. Chisman was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter Nancy, and his siblings Lyman, Uarda and Beulah.
