

Born Feb. 9, 1949, in Indianapolis, he was the only son of William Jacob and Zenobia Kathryn Stillabower. He married Ethel Morris Oct. 6, 1990, at Amity Baptist Church.
Among his survivors are his wife, of Columbus; mother-in-law, Helen D. Morris, and sisters-in-law, Julie (Robert) Pell, Joni (Darrell) Smith, and Denise (Steve) Pittman, all of Lexington, South Carolina; nieces, Amanda Smith (Clayton) Blackston of Irmo, South Carolina, Kaitlin Pell of Ballentie, South Carolina, Staci Smith of Chapin, South Carolina, Kayla Pittman of Lexington, South Carolina, and Morgan Pittman (Sean) Groubert of Lugoff, South Carolina ; one nephew, Austin Pell of Charleston, South Carolina; several first cousins in the Indianapolis area; and his faithful friend, Sophie.
Bill had attended Franklin Township schools, graduated from Edinburgh High School in 1967 and Purdue University in 1971, with a Bachelor’s Degree in industrial management. He was a member of Franklin Masonic Lodge No. 107, Murat Shrine Organization of Indianapolis, Indianapolis Valley of the Scottish Rite, Bartholomew County Shrine Club, Purdue Alumni Club, the Elks Club and Corvette Club of Columbus.
He had worked for Cummins Engine Company for 32 years as an account representative and retired as a project manager in 2008. He was a member of Amity Baptist Church.
Bill enjoyed bowling, golf, riding his motorcycle and driving his Corvettes. He was everybody’s friend and rarely met a stranger. He enjoyed traveling to Jamaica, the Bahamas, Las Vegas, Myrtle Beach and fishing at Cape Cod. He was also a responsible owner of many dogs all his life. He loved our dogs, Alex, a Golden retriever; Oscar, a Terrier mix, and Sophie, a Golden retriever.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Myers-Reed Chapel on 25th Street with the Pastor Larry Isbell officiating. Burial will follow at Forrest Lawn Memorial Gardens in Greenwood.
Calling will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday and one hour prior to the service Monday. A Masonic memorial service will be conducted at 6 p.m. Sunday.
