I was shocked that I never knew my next door neighbor had passed away until today.  My wife and I had asked each numerous times the last few months if we had seen Mr. Stone. We assumed that perhaps he was wintering in the South or that he had moved in with a friend that he had sometimes talked about. Once they began some major renovations to his home I did some checking and discovered he had been deceased for months! Bill was always a friendly face in a rather quiet neighborhood. We didn't interact often but it was always nice to have him as a neighbor. 

Bill Stone was a great friend to my deceased husband and I. Bill gave me wonderful advise and supported me more than anyone has ever done.
Bill never let anyone take advantage of me. I will miss him terribly.

A packed funeral home cannot measure the number of lives Billy touched. I am truly blessed to have been able to roam this world far and wide with Billy on countless adventures for over 30 years. William may have physically left this time and space, but he lives on in everyone of us. East coast, West coast, America's heartland, & where you call home  - Remember to live for Billy. Long live Bill!!!

Sid, I am so sorry to learn of Billy's death.  I still remember your cute pest of a little brother during our junior high school days.  By the time we graduated high school, he had become a nice, friendly young man.  I was pleased to read of his accomplishments of the Hanover degree and his IU law degree as well as his lengthy time practicing law in Columbus.  Sounds like he became quite a bike rider too based on the comments of his friends and fellow riders.
My thoughts are with you as you endure the untimely loss of your brother.

So many words could be used to describe Billy, the two I choose are loyal and dependable, Billy was always able to make time for you, whether riding with or as a friend. He was one of the first non work friends I made in Columbus and remained a close friend. Sorry we didn’t get to have a ride together this year.  Sleep well my friend.  

I got to know Bill at our Crossfit place. I always enjoyed his company. What a smart, caring man he was. He never knew a stranger. Nobody worked harder than he did. Wish I could have known him back when and seen him in his racing prime. Sure will miss that guy

For many years in the 90's, I would show up every evening at Bill's house to meet him and the road riders for a good ride. Really good group of riders and great skill. Always enjoyed listening to Bill's stories of riding in Europe on those rides. Definitely he was one of my road race mentors of how to ride fast thru corners and not lose the wheel in front. I can still remember well, Bill being on my wheel in crit races (Southwestway Indy) giving me tons of instruction. Ride on Bill. Glad to have known you.

Bill was a great friend and mentor to me.  He made it possible for me to ride with the guys by sharing his time, enthusiasm and knowledge to make me a better rider.  It meant so much to me at a particularly hard time in my life.  He will be missed.
