Wilma Lou Huffman, age 93, passed away in Columbus on December 8, 2020. She was born February 4, 1927, the daughter of Albert and Zora Hickey. She was retired from the school system as a secretary in the guidance department of Central Junior High. Singing was her passion and she was a past member of the First Christian Church choir and Silvertones singing group and loved singing karaoke at family gatherings. She was a lifetime member of the American Legion and VFW Ladies Auxiliaries and was always eager to help veteran’s causes. Wilma’s quote at the end of her life “to Love God and love people.” She saw the good in every person she met and always lived her life according to the example of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was baptized into Christ and was a member of First Christian Church. After meeting the love of her live shortly after WW II at Zaharako’s (the Greeks), Wilma married Todd “Sam” Huffman, September 28, 1946, in Columbus; he preceded her in death in 2002. Survivors include her children; Joyce (Terry) Graham of Columbus, Connie Anderson of Burnsville, Barbara (Randy) Bomkamp of St. Louis, John Huffman of North Vernon and Lisa Huffman of Bloomington. Grandchildren; Scott (Myriam) Graham of Columbus, Melanie (Jordan) Cockerham of Seymour, Zach Anderson of Bloomington, Eric (Madelyn) Bomkamp of Denver, Colorado, Craig Bomkamp of St. Louis, Keisha (Christian) Bayens of Wisconsin and Lucie, Albert and Roman Cyliax all of Bloomington. Wilma is also survived by 11 great grandchildren and 1 great-great granddaughter and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and sisters, Dorothy Evans and Jean Harrell and son-in-law Dennis Anderson. A private funeral service and visitation will be held at Hathaway~Myers Chapel on Pearl Street officiated by Tyler Tolbert. Private entombment will follow at Garland Brook Mausoleum.
