Alonzo Amos was born July 21, 1947 in Macon Georgia to Ethel and Walter Amos Sr.
He is survived by his wife Sheridan, Brother Walter (Karen) Amos, Sisters Juanita Walker, Debora (Melvin) Branham, Ollie (John) Greenway; Brother-in-law Dwight (Tina) Aubrey; Sisters-in-law, Nancy Smith, Dora Evans and Henrietta Evans and numerous nieces and nephews.
His naturally inquisitive personality prompted him at an early age, to ask the big questions of life; why are we here and what is life’s purpose? He sincerely believed right down to the end Jehovah our Grand Creator continued to supply answers that were stimulating and motivating for him. The answers he received over a life time far exceeded his expectations and he was truly grateful. Having possessed these answers gave life zest and real meaning.
One of the joys Alonzo had was discussing the Bible with people no matter where he would find them (parks, restaurants, doctor’s offices, traveling). He would talk about anything that stimulated interest in the Bible and his ultimate delight was helping some who responded to come to know Jehovah. He volunteered his time to assist a number of people to find the same answers that he sought early in life. To accomplish this he willing set aside an art scholarship and a career as an artist and devoted 47 years of service to Jehovah God.
Alonzo had many interests in life besides art; he had an insurance agency and he was a great cook (barbeque). He had a restaurant called Rib Ticklers, he participated in the building of the McCutcheon Rd Kingdom Hall, and he made a device to start a car in 1968. He built a Kayak; his two older brothers taught him how to do body and fender work to repair automobiles. He hung dry wall; in fact he built the shed behind the McCutcheon Road Kingdom Hall with the help of a few others. He was a serious amateur photographer and developed music with his computer. Alonzo had such a love for life, the arts and people he would meet. He will be missed by his wife and family and many people he loved and that loved him.
