Anna Jo Beeson, of Upper Arlington Ohio, passed away Wednesday morning September 11, 2024 at the age of 101. She was born on December 12, 1922, in Marion, Indiana to the late Lester and Carolyn Theibert.
A talented musician and pianist, she studied music at the University of Pittsburgh, and West Virginia Wesleyan College. After college she joined her parents in Columbus, Ohio where she met and married the love of her life, John D. Beeson.
Along with her husband, she was a charter member and played a key roll in the establishment of Covenant Presbyterian Church in Upper Arlington. During her 71 years of membership and worship, she was active in numerous aspects of Covenant; initially starting three children & youth choirs, directing many children’s Christmas pageants, teaching Sunday School, singing in the choir, writing and producing the church variety show for over 25 years, chairing and serving on the Worship and Arts Committee and many other church committees and activities, as well as serving as a Deacon and an Elder.
As a wonderful stay-at-home mom, she used her gift and love of music by teaching piano lessons from her home for over 65 years, stopping at age 98 only due to her daughters’ concerns over Covid. In that time she touched the lives of well over 100 individual students in the central Ohio area. She was also a passionate supporter of the Columbus Symphony Orchestra and a longtime member of the Tempo Unit of the Women’s Association.
Among her many talents and interest was her love of sewing. In the late 1990’s she was accepted into the Ohio Women’s Art Guild as a fabric artist, an honor of which she was very proud.
She and her husband John held to the personal motto to “Always have fun, and make other people happy”, which led to many memorable parties and celebrations at the Beeson home. Even after the passing of her husband, she vowed to celebrate a special occasion every month whether there was a holiday or not. She loved hosting and entertaining her cherished friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband; brothers Richard and John Theibert; two brothers-in-law; three sisters-in-law; a niece and nephew.
Left to cherish her memory are her proud daughters Lesley (Michael) Tate, Roberta Day, Dannette (David) Tate; grandchildren Adam (Lori) Tate, Jonathan Day, Amanda (John) Poston, Hannah Tate, and Margaret Tate; great-granddaughters Reese and Addison Poston; a niece; three nephews and their families.
The family would like to thank the nurses and aides at Traditions of Hilliard Assisted Living for their wonderful care and support.
