

Helen Arlene Ewart Kincaid passed away at the age of 99, on Monday, March 10, 2014 at her residence, the Forum at Knightsbridge. She was born in Odell, Illinois to the late Jesse N. and Vernia S. Kerr Kimball.
She is survived by her children Craig K. (Anne) Ewart, Brian P. Ewart and Wendy G. van Diver; grandchildren Kimberly D. Ewart, Scott K. (Jelena) Ewart, Olivia G. Porterfield, Emma A. Porterfield, Daniel S. Porterfield and Autumn S. van Diver; step daughter Ellen K. (Richard) Sandrock; step grandchildren Michael and John Kincaid and Megan, Ryan and Tate Sandrock and their families. She is preceded in death by her first husband Cyril G. Ewart; second husband Dahlton R. Kincaid; step son and his wife, Robert W. and Nancy Kincaid.
Arlene was an active woman who believed in giving back to her community. She shared her strong spirit of volunteering as an active member within the Upper Arlington Community, a contributing member of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, the Columbus Symphony Orchestra and the Cancer Crew. She was instrumental in organizing Tour de Ville (tours of German Village), on behalf of the Columbus Symphony Orchestra. Earlier, she worked alongside her husband, Cyril, as a founder of Highlights For Children magazine, in the publication’s early days.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, June 28 at 11:00am at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 2151 Dorset Rd, Columbus, OH 43221. Arrangements have been entrusted to Schoedinger Northwest Chapel, 1740 Zollinger Road in Upper Arlington. Reverend Christopher C. Richardson, officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 2151 Dorset Road, Upper Arlington, Ohio 43221, in her loving memory.
