Augusto G. Aguirre

Augusto G. Aguirre, M.D., age 78, of Upper Arlington passed away peacefully at the side of his daughters and son, Wednesday October 10, 2012 at his home. He was born in Manizales, Colombia, to the late Jesus and Isabel Aguirre and has lived in Columbus for over 40 years.

He studied medicine at La Universidad de Caldas, University of Maryland, and the Ohio State University. He was a pathologist at Riverside Hospital for over 40 years. Augusto was passionate about family, world-wide travel, food (he was an avid member of the Wellington Woods Gourmet club for over 30 years), all things French (he was a member of Alliance Francaise Columbus), and his dogs.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Rosita P. Aguirre. He is survived by his children, Monica Scalzo (Ron), Jorge Aguirre (Carla Gutierrez), Isabel Pusateri (Scott) and AnnaMaria McLaughlin (Chris); 9 grandchildren, R.J., Lucas and Domenic Scalzo, Ava and Gemma Pusateri, Diego Augusto and Pablo Aguirre, Patrick Augusto and Clara Rose McLaughlin; 4 siblings, Stella Aguirre Villa, Magnolia Aguirre, Amparo Aguirre Idarraga, Carlos Alberto Aguirre, and many, many nieces and nephews. His family and friends will miss him terribly.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, October 13, 2012 at St. Andrew Catholic Church, 1899 McCoy Rd., Columbus, Fr. Michael B. Watson, Celebrant.
