Barbara Ellen Cathey, 76, of Columbus, died Saturday, May 17, 2014. She was born April 19, 1938 in West Jefferson to the late Walter and Velma (Peterman) Haynes. She was a graduate of West Jefferson High School and retired after 20 years from General Motors. She was an active member of the UAW and attended Highland Baptist Church. She enjoyed reading and traveling with her friends. She is loved and will be missed. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by 9 siblings and her husband Allen Cathey Sr. She is survived by children Randy (Kay), Tim (Sandy) and Allen (Ellen), sister Evelyn Harper and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Family will receive friends Wednesday, May 21, 2014 from 6-8 PM at SCHOEDINGER HILLTOP CHAPEL, 3030 W. Broad St., where a funeral service will be held at 10 AM Thursday, May 22, 2014.
