To such a supportive and loving grandmother, you will surely be missed. So glad you allowed us the chance to spend time with you on Christmas and to laugh together again. I will forever be grateful for the history, memories, and life lessons you brought to our family. Im positive grandpa is waiting there for you with a game of Bridge ready, and I'm sure my brother is asking if you brought the banana seat bike with you. ;) Take care of one another.. and until we meet again, watch over us all.

Grandma was one of a kind, the only woman I know who could handle raising her five children and making it look so easy.
Her love for my grandfather was true, deep, and as real as it gets. Life was not meant to spend it without one another and grandma had to learn this along with how to adapt. As always, she put her efforts and her heart into her children and grandchildren. There was never a moment grandma wasn't congratulating us on a graduation, engagement, birth of a child, or celebrating school events.
Holidays were always a time for family and grandma cherished this. Many stories were directed at us grandchildren to ensure we knew the history of our family roots and understood the importance of passing these stories along from generation to generation.
The first thing I remember grandma by was her unique way in answering the phone...."mmmmmmmm.....hello?" I always giggled a little bit and secretly loved that greeting!
She came to sporting events and family functions as often as she could. She was always joking with anyone around her, causing a contagious laugh or smile. She was more orniary as a patient, but the nurses and aides just adored my grandmother.
In the later years, it was hard to watch her loose memory and understanding. Many times, she would look at me and say, "jess, I know I'm talking silly.I just can't come up with the right words". I told her it was okay and that growing old isn't easy. But I still told her to never give up on trying to explain yourself, for one of two things will happen. Either she will get her point across or she would surely be able to make her audience laugh in spite of the frustration. She never got angry, at anything or anyone that I know of. 
She supported me in everything I chose to attempt in life and always had the best advice on how to get to where I was going. After all, she did teach me directions (north, south, easy, west). Her smile was ever present when I would tell her about school or sports or the latest news of my love life. I know grandma stood behind me 120% and for that I am thankful.
She was loving, well traveled and had an amazing memory for details of family trips. She loved my grandfather more than I have ever experienced love, and for that I am envious. She told me I had a good guy, so I'm hoping I'll get to see what so many years with the man of my dreams leads to.
Grandma, you were not only a great dancer, bridge player, chicken noodle soup maker and truly stunning, but you helped set up the building blocks for our family. You and grandpa gave all you had to allow our family to grow and carry on the Houghn/Hain names proudly. 
Seeing you during your last days hurt my heart. I never pictured you as vulnerable. I so badly wanted to make things better. Your hospice team did a phenomenal job with your care, keeping you comfortable, and keeping the family up to date. The employees of both Sunrise of Worthington and Heartland Hospice became our family. You only ever deserved the best grandma, and I assure you the care you were given was nothing but extraordinary. For your rest, comfort, and peace I pray you have found and will keep.
Please kiss grandpa for me and tell him I miss my bear hugs dearly. Hug my brother tight for me and tell him I miss him everyday and night. Enjoy your eternal peace, comfort and happiness now. You were always the lead watch over the family, and now you just have a better vantage point. I love you grandma, so very much. Always in my thoughts and on my mind.

Barbara was always sweet, loving, gentle and kind to me all my life. A woman filled, living and displaying the fruit of the spirit. Now that I am old I can finally see and understand that Christlikness was on display in her. I once was blind but now I see. I will see you again in heaven. Jay D. Saunders
