Betty C. Greene, age 89, died December 30, 2009. She was born February 15, 1920 in Elyria, Ohio to Charles and Gladys Miller. Betty graduated from North High School in 1937. She went on to Ohio State University where she majored in music and played violin in the Symphony Orchestra under Eugene J. Wiezel. She also attended Franklin University. After college, she worked for John Hancock Insurance Co. until she married Harry Greene on August 8, 1942. Betty was very active in Covenant Presbyterian Church’s women’s groups and was member of Norwester Women’s Club for many years. Betty didn’t drive until she was 50 years old. It was then she told her husband that if he bought her a small red station wagon she would learn to drive. So he did, and she took one lesson on how to park, passed her drivers test, and drove to pick up friends that didn’t drive. Betty loved to travel and took her family with her. She was very generous and loved to share her experiences with family in tow. She took all of her grandchildren to Disney World and cherished taking care of them. Betty is preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Harry L. Greene; parents; daughter, Karen Propst; son, Steven Greene; and brother-in-law, Francis Greene. She is survived by her brother, Elliot “Bud” (Rita) Miller; son, Alan (Lynn) Greene; granddaughters, Kristen (Tom) Ober, Lauren Chambers, and Stephanie (Chris Guska) Greene; great-granddaughters, Lauren Ober, and Jennifer Lynn Guska; nephews, Martin Miller, Michael (Molly) Greene, and David Greene; sister-in-law, Virginia Greene; son-in-law, Roger “Doc” Propst; several cousins in Ashland, Ohio and England; as well as many dear friends, who she kept in touch with through notes, long letters, phone calls, and visits. It is for these reasons that she feels no need for a funeral and she has threatened to haunt all people involved who do not comply. Arrangements entrusted to Schoedinger Northwest Chapel.
