

Betty Jane Kent, age 89, passed away on Monday, August 27, 2012, at Riverside Methodist Hospital. Born in Westerville, Ohio, on April 18, 1923, to the late John and Iva Strouse, she graduated from Centerburg High School, and also attended Otterbein University. She worked for the Farm Bureau, but primarily, she served as the devoted and supportive wife of Rev. Raymond Kent, a minister in the Presbyterian Church. She was a member of Broad Street Presbyterian Church where she volunteered for over 20 years in the food pantry. Over the years, she was a member of many church and community choirs, and most recently, she was a spirited member of the Wesley Glen Retirement Community. Betty will be dearly missed and is survived by her husband of 66 years, Rev. Raymond Kent; daughter, Katherine (Russell) Ayres of Pittsburgh, PA; grandchildren, Bill Ayres of Dayton, OH, Elena Zeller of Brooklyn, NY, and Rachel Young of Los Angeles, CA; and 4 great grandchildren. A memorial service to honor Betty will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 1, at Wesley Glen Retirement Center, 5155 N. High St., Columbus, Ohio 43214. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Broad Street Presbyterian Church Food Pantry. Arrangements by the Schoedinger Worthington Chapel.
