

May 23, 2025. Born on March 11, 1922 in Pomeroy, Ohio. Betty was the daughter of the late Herman P. Hoffner and Edna M. (Arnold) Hoffner. She was a 1941 graduate of Pomeroy High School. Betty went on to earn an associate degree from the College of Commerce & Financial School of Business Administration Accounting & Secretarial Technique. Betty worked at the Hoffner family restaurant, The Old Mill, in Chillicothe, OH. She was also employed by City Loan Savings Company and Mutual of New York.
Mrs. Martin lived most of her life in Columbus, OH. She was a member of and volunteered for the following organizations: North Broadway United Methodist Church since 1968; Worthington Chapter #287, Order of Eastern Star; Clintonville Women’s Club; Ohio Federation of Republican Women and was the official photographer; Volunteered for the Over 50 Club, for the Ohio State Fair; Volunteered for the Purple Heart Association 1983-1987.
Betty is preceded in death by 3 brothers: Max Hoffner, Lawrence Hoffner, & Earl Hoffner. Her husband Charles LeRoy (Roy) Martin, who passed away February 5, 1983. Stepson, Owen Bruce Martin. Survived by three stepsons and stepdaughter’s-in-law, Simeon LeRoy & Patti Martin, Robert Douglas & Patti Martin and David Lloyd Martin. Eight step grand children and Eight step great grand children. Also many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She had a passion for gardening, dancing, exercising, swimming and boating. Her days were filled with fun and laughter socializing with her family and friends. She was loved and adored by all who knew her.
A celebration of Betty’s life will be held at Schoedinger-NW, 1740 Zollinger Road, Columbus, OH 43221, (614) 457-5481 on June 1, 2025. The service to begin at 2:00pm. A reception will be held immediately following the service until 5:00 pm. Graveside service to be held at Memorial Burial Park, 10556 Gallic Pike, Wheelersburg, OH 45694 on June 2, 2025 @ 11:00 am.
