

Preceded in death by loving husband Janis Arturs Osis. Her spirit lives on with her surviving family: son Peteris Osis; daughter Irene Dace (Bob) DeAndero and stepdaughter Niki; sisters: Aina Karklins and Mirdza Miska; niece Ilze (Dave) Powers and daughter Alexis; nephew Ed (Louise) Miska and daughters Stephanie, Annelise and son Eric. She will also be missed by close neighbors and loving friends. Graduated from Rigas Skolotaju Institute (Riga, Latvia); University of Hamburg (Hamburg, Germany); University of Michigan. Assistant Professor Emeritus, The Ohio State University – University Libraries. Member of Columbus Latvian Evangelical Lutheran Church, Columbus Latvian Association, Dziesmu Vairoga, DziesmuVara, Columbus Latvian Literary Society, American Latvian Association and numerous professional organizations. She had a lifelong passion for the arts, music and literature. With a gifted voice, she sang in numerous choirs in Latvia and the United States and participated in Latvian Song Festivals throughout the years. Her love of literature and books was exemplified by her vast collection of books and articles. She also had an adventurous spirit, even in her later years, traveling to her native Latvia and numerous trips to Wyoming and Michigan. The family would like to thank all the caregivers at HomeReach Hospice for their compassion and caring. Calling hours: 2-4 pm and 5-7 pm on Wednesday, November 2, 2011 at Schoedinger Northwest Chapel, 1740 Zollinger Rd. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, November 13, 2011 at 3pm at Scioto Ridge United Methodist Church, 4343 Dublin Road, Hilliard, Ohio 43026. Internment at Riverside Cemetery in Kalamazoo, Michigan at a later date.
