She was born August 22, 1940, in Ravenna, Ohio to David Joseph and Dorothy (Young) Bowen. She is preceded in death by Larry Burkett, her husband. Brenda graduated from Kent State University with undergraduate and master's degrees in Education. Brenda retired from a fulfilling career as a teacher of English and gifted students at Marysville High School, where she made lifelong relationships with many teachers and students. She is survived by her children, David (Rohal), Dennis (Rohal), Michaelann (Jannsen), Stephanie (Leisten), and six grandchildren.
Services will be on Saturday, December 9, 2017, at Ascension Lutheran Church 1479 Morse Road, at 9:30 am. The family wishes to thank the staff at Care at Home Hospice, Denver, CO. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Parkinson's Foundation or Care at Home Hospice, Denver, CO. Arrangements entrusted to SCHOEDINGER WORTHINGTON CHAPEL, 6699 North High Street.
