

Carl F. Hingst, 82, of Columbus, passed away Saturday, August 6, 2011 at the Ohio Masonic Home in Springfield. He was born November 16, 1928 in Columbus and was a graduate of West High School and The Ohio State University where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce.
Upon graduating from OSU, Carl served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
Carl worked at Corco for many years before retiring from Inland Products. He was a longtime member of St. John’s Church where he was an integral part of gaining support for their food pantry. Carl was a member of the Humboldt Lodge #476 F. & A.M. and the Buckeye Boat Club.
Carl loved to be on his boat fishing and spending time with family. He was an avid OSU fan and attended many football games. Carl enjoyed golfing, bowling, shooting pool, and traveling to Round Lake to visit family. Carl was a wonderful husband who was warm, generous, helpful, humorous and will be remembered for his smile.
Preceded in death by his son, Thomas C. Hingst; daughter-in-law, Effie Hingst; parents, Karl and Frieda Hingst; and sister, Dorothy Weser. Carl will be missed by his loving wife of 56 years, Marilyn; son, James (Annette) Hingst; and grandchildren, Rachel and Gabriel Hingst.
Family will receive friends Wednesday, August 10, 2011 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at SCHOEDINGER MIDTOWN CHAPEL, 229 E. State St., Columbus, where a Masonic service will be held at 7:30 p.m. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. John’s Church, 59 E. Mound St., Columbus, OH 43215, Rev. Ronald Botts, officiating. Family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service. Interment in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
