Carnelle "Connie" McAlister

Carnelle Shivley “Connie” McAlister, age 89, of Hilliard, passed away Tuesday, August 16, 2011 at Darby Glenn Nursing Home. She was born September 1, 1921 in Leaksville, NC, daughter of Amos and Eula (Pendleton) Shivley. She retired from the American Tobacco Co. in North Carolina. Beside her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Everette McAlister; her daughter, Debby Wilson in February, 2010; sister, Lorraine Campbell and brother Junior Shivley. Connie was dedicated to her family and will be missed by her sons and daughter-in-law, Larry McAlister, Reidsville, NC and Michael (Nancy) McAlister, Stoneville, NC; son-in-law, Phil Wilson, Hilliard; grandchildren, Michi (Stan) Holland and Karen Wilson, Tracey (David) Hill and Lori Beth Hunt; great-grandchildren, Avery, Owen, Vivienne, Gavin and Zayda; sister, Rosie Earles, Eden, NC; numerous nieces and nephews. Connie was an avid card player, especially rook and looked forward to vacations in Topsail Beach, North Carolina. Per her request, there will be no services. A private gathering for family will take place. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to HomeReach Hospice, c/o Ohio Health Foundation, 180 E. Broad Street, Columbus, OH 43215, in her memory.
