Carol Deshler

Carol Weber Deshler, age 84, passed away on Thursday, August 4, 2022, at Sunrise of Dublin. Carol was born on November 18, 1937, in Columbus, Ohio, to Pauline and Henry Weber. Carol was a 1955 graduate of Columbus South High School. She was a 1959 graduate of The Ohio State University where she was a member of Alpha Phi sorority and Omega Pi business education honorary. She was employed in the Education Department of the Ohio Historical Society Children’s Department from 1959 to 1965. In 1960, Carol married Dana A. Deshler, the love of her life, at First Community Church. Carol and Dana raised three sons in Upper Arlington: Jonathan Andrew, Judson William, and Jason Philip. From 1982 to 1999, Carol was employed by the Upper Arlington Public Library at the Lane Road Branch. Carol enjoyed traveling while she was young, keeping in touch with best friends, and was an avid reader. Carol was predeceased by her husband of fifty-one years, Dana A. Deshler; brother William Weber and sister-in-law Elaine Weber; sister-in-law Diane Deshler Matlock; brother-in-law Dr. Philip Matlock; and lifelong best friend and fellow South High classmate, Joy Slover. Survived by Jon (Lynne) Deshler of Upper Arlington, Ohio; Jud Deshler of Upper Arlington, Ohio; and Jason (Emily) Deshler of Cincinnati, Ohio. She will be missed by her eight grandchildren: Abigail, Jonathan, Bridget, Joseph, Katherine, Jacob, Caroline, and Luke. Also survived by nieces and nephews Jody (Ron) McIntyre and Susie (Bob) Iddings, Sheryl (Bylle) Matlock, Philip Matlock, Susan (Tim) Malczynski, Sally (George) Bullis, Regina (Michael) Zambeck, and numerous great nieces and nephews. Friends may call from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Monday, August 22, 2022, at the SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST, 1740 Zollinger Rd., Upper Arlington, OH 43221. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 23, 2022, at First Community Church, Burkhart Chapel, 1320 Cambridge Blvd., Columbus, OH 43212. Pastor Jim Long officiating.
