Carol A Shier

Carol Ann (Bausch) Shier, 85, of Marysville, OH, passed away on December 29, 2025 at Bluebird Retirement Community. She was born on February 4, 1940, in Columbus, OH, to the late Harold and Verna (Kunz) Bausch. Carol married her husband of 65 years, Walter Shier, on November 14, 1958.

Carol had a gentle spirit, an unwavering kindness, and sweetness she extended to everyone she met. She had a natural gift for making others feel welcomed and cared for through her warm smile and quiet sense of humor. Carol brought comfort and joy to all who knew her.

Carol is survived by her devoted children, Timothy (Della) Shier, Debbie Miller, and Leann (Paul) Ulrich. Carol was a proud and loving grandmother to Zackary (Rachel) Shier, Ashley (Greg) Showalter, Christopher (Heather) Miller, Cody (Katelyn) Miller, Jessica Ulrich, and Evan (MacKenzie) Ulrich, and a cherished great grandmother to ten great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister in law and best friend, Susie Sorden, and brothers in law, Bob (Linda) Shier and Mark Shier, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

Carol was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Shier; her parents, Harold and Verna Bausch; her brothers, Allan, Paul, Donald, and Steve Bausch; and her son in law, Thomas Miller.

In keeping with Carol’s wishes, a private service will be held. Those who wish to honor her memory may consider a contribution to St. John’s Lutheran Church, 6135 Rings Rd, Dublin, OH 43016.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate team at Bluebird Retirement Center who provided exceptional care and support as well as to the many friends Carol met at Bluebird. They also wish to thank ViaQuest Hospice care team for their kindness and support.
