

It is with deepest sorrow we announce the passing of Charles Eugene Dew, age 80. Gene passed away on February 14, 2019 in Sarasota, Florida. He was born on June 17, 1938 in Zanesville, Ohio. Gene was preceded in death by his wife Dolly (Appleman) Dew and sons David and Jeff Dew. He is survived by his wife, Roslyn Dew, daughter Linda (Jeff) Reasinger, step-daughters Deborah Strafella and Allyson Strafella (Max Goldfarb), grandchildren Justin (Andrea) Dew, Jennifer (JT) Wolfe, Morgan Reasinger, Miles and Pepper Goldfarb, six great grandchildren, brother Phil Walters and sister Carol (Tom) Clawson. Gene had a strong Christian faith and was a member of First Community Church in Columbus, Ohio and later joined Siesta Key Chapel in Sarasota, Florida. He was a graduate of Zanesville High School (class of 1956) and received his bachelor’s degree from Franklin University. Gene was the Director of Human Resources for Allied Mineral Products, Inc. until retiring in 2000. He was a member of the Humboldt Masonic Blue Lodge and later York Lodge, and was also an Aladdin Shriner, 32nd Degree Mason and member of the Scottish Rite Freemason. He enjoyed golfing, Ohio State football, traveling, reading and spending time with family and friends. Gene was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend to many. He will be remembered for his selfless acts of kindness in helping so many people. Calling hours to celebrate Gene's life will take place from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST CHAPEL, 1740 Zollinger Rd, Columbus, OH 43221 on Thursday, March 28, 2019. A private graveside memorial service will take place at 11 a.m. Friday, March 29, 2019 at Zanesville Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
