

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved Charlotte Ann Cranston Prior, who left us on November 19, 2025 at the age of 94. Born on June 27, 1931 in Columbus, Ohio, Charlotte was cherished by family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Charlotte was a devoted spouse to Stanton Erle Prior for seventy years, having married in February 1955. Charlotte and Stanton were lifelong members of Glenwood United Methodist Church. She was involved in and supported many of it’s ministries. Her activism included support for single mothers and disadvantaged families, church outreach programs such as the Red Bird Mission in Kentucky, and fundraising events such as the Christmas Fair and Fall Festival. She and Stanton enjoyed lifelong friendships with those they had met while in youth group at church. Charlotte Prior is survived by her children James, Andrew (wife Kim), and Amy Kula (husband Lars), grandchildren Lawrence and Graham Littler, sister Mary Ellen Cranston Bennett, and brother Thomas Cranston. She was predeceased by her parents, Paul Cranston and Lilly McCarley Cranston. She also leaves behind many extended family and cherished friends. She will be remembered for her kindness, charity, and easy laugh. She enjoyed spending her childhood summers down at Grandma Edward’s place in Hocking County, on Route 56 a mile east of Ash Cave. As an adult, she spent many weekends camping with her family at Hocking Hills State Park. She loved to travel, at first camping with her family across the United States and Canada, and later in life traveling overseas. She traveled widely, including Egypt (three times with her yoga group), India (for the Maha Kumba Mela), the British Isles and Europe, China, Japan, Thailand,and Mexico. She was an excellent cake decorator and made many beautiful cakes for friends and family through the years. She was a skilled seamstress, and a long-time season ticket holder to the Columbus Symphony Orchestra. Visitation is scheduled for December 4, 2025, 4:00-7:00 pm, and a funeral to celebrate Charlotte’s life will be held on December 5, 2025 at 11:00 am, both at Schoedinger – Hilltop, 3030 W. Broad Street, Columbus, Ohio 43204. All who knew and loved Charlotte are welcome to attend and share in honoring her memory.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Glenwood United Methodist Church, 2833 Valleyview Drive, Columbus, OH 43204, reflecting her commitment to her church community and their outreach programs. May she rest in peace.
