Chelsea Marlene Jones Gates

Chelsea Marlene Jones (Gates) was born on May 17, 1975 to Carla (Lyons) Watson, of Newark, Ohio and Sylvester Jones, from Zanesville, Ohio. She was married to Milton Gates Sr. of Meridian, Mississippi, on July 22, 1994 in Newark, Ohio. She was the loving and devoted mother of three; son, Milton Gates Jr., 18, Moreno Valley, California; son Sha’mez Gates, 15, Moreno Valley, California, and daughter She’mesha Gates, 13, Moreno Valley, California. Chelsea went to be with the Lord, Friday, July 6th, 2012.

She was a home healthcare aide at Alta Home Health Care in Menifee, California. She was a member of Higher Praise Ministry in Moreno Valley, California. She was also a member of Tru Rydaz, motorcycle club in Moreno Valley, California. Chelsea enjoyed to travel, and ride motorcycles. She was loved and cherished by many and will be truly missed.

She is survived by husband Milton Gates Sr; son Milton Gates Jr. and daughter She’mesha Gates both of Moreno Valley, Califorina; parents, Carla Lyons(Watson) of Newark, Ohio and Sylvester Jones of Las Vegas, Nevada; sisters’ D’Arci Watson(Kuria) and Michael Siobvan Watson of Columbus, Ohio. Chelsea is also survived by many extended family and friends, aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews, and coworkers.

Preceded in death by her son, Semaj Carter; grandmother Alice Lyons; grandfather Norman Lyons; aunt Deborah P. Carlisle; aunt Mary Holbert; grandmother, Georgiann Jones; and son Sha’mez Gates. There will be a Celebration of Life on Saturday, July, 21, 2012 at 11:00 am held at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, 383 Washington St, Newark (740) 349-9133. A benefit dinner for Chelsea and Sha’mez Gates will be held at the Elbow Lounge 76 S. Second St, Newark, directly after the memorial service from 2pm -11pm. Donations or contributions to the family will be accepted by Carla Watson.
