A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on December 15, 2023 at Noon at St. John's Catholic Church in Covington, KY. A celebration of her life and her art will be held at a later time. More information to come as events are finalized.
Christi (known as “Bam” to many of her friends) was a self-taught artist and photographer with showings at art galleries, restaurants, spas and the Columbus Museum of Art. Walking into her house, you’d find every wall hanging with the creations she “just couldn’t part with”, along with enough paint, paintbrushes and lighting for another 10 artists.
In 2022, she was highlighted in the book “Creative Reflections” where she was described as an adventurer, creator, and sportbike racer. In addition to sportbike riding, Christi was also the founding director of the Sportbike Track Girl, a group advocating for women in the sport. After retiring as both a rider and a coach, Christi continued to have a big impact in the community. She maintained close relationships with so many enthusiasts across the world and was known to do some fairly intense internet commentary on international races to her friends and followers. A recent post shared by Sportbike Track Time said, “Christi fought her battle with courage and humor, and took the world on her final journey in a way that gave life to death”
Making people she’d just met feel like she was their best friend was Christi’s super-power. She engaged all with her beautiful smile, great hair, strong and caring nature, and her great sense of humor. Most don’t know this about her but she befriended a neighbor with a mental disability who was on his own and eventually became his court-appointed guardian. For 15 years, she advocated for him and he was very special to her. She also loved “The Princess Bride”, bargain shopping, bees, beaches and any good joke in very bad taste, but she especially loved her dogs (Maggie and Finn) and her pro-hunting cat (Michelin aka “MurderFluff”). All three have been immortalized on Christi’s media in some very funny posts.
She is survived by her mother and step-father, Joan and Don Wright of Perry Park, KY; her father and step-mother, Jack and Christie Bambeck of Austin, TX; her siblings, Elizabeth and Geoff Fryman of Union, KY; Lori Stanton of Erlanger, KY, John Bambeck of Sommerset, KY, Jessica Bambeck of Westerville, OH, her half-brother, Graham Bambeck of Richmond, VA, and her brother-in-law, Steve Hendy.
She was preceded in death by her nephew, Steven Stanton, her cousin Robert (Rusty) Erpenbeck, and her dear friend and sister, Mary Pat Hendy.
And she would never let us live it down if we didn’t mention that Christi was an amazing aunt to her nieces and nephews: Sam Grundhoefer; Katie, Steven and Jack Stanton; Jessica and Coco Lipp, and her great-niece, Addilyn Cahall.
She will be missed beyond measure.
In honor of Christi’s memory, donations may be made to St. Paul the Apostle Church c/o Fr. O, 313 N. State St., Westerville, Ohio 43082 or to your nearest no-kill animal shelter.
