Claudette Cheeks, age 89, of Columbus. Sunrise September 11, 1933- Sunset March 15, 2023. She was born in Columbus, Ohio, daughter of the late Albert Cooley and Ella Mae (McDonald) Cooley. She retired from The Ohio State University Hospitals. Besides her parents, Claudette was preceded in death by her husband, Claude Cheeks; sons, Gregory Clark and Claude Leon Cheeks; brothers, Albert Cooley Jr, and Lou Davidson sisters, Ruth Ward and Rebecca Caldwell. She is survived by her beloved nieces and nephews; great nieces and great nephews and their families, dear friends and her cherished extended family. Claudette was a former active member of Unity Church of Christianity and presently a member of Christ United Methodist Church, where she participated in the church yard sales and Bread, which assisted the community by feeding the hungry and helping shut-ins. She loved to travel especially taking cruises and her trip to the Holy Land. She was a member of the Red Hat Society woman’s group. She was known for being a classy dresser in Church and at functions. Her past times were collecting pandas and catalog shopping. There will be a private entombment at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the National Kidney Foundation, 1491 Polaris Parkway, Columbus, OH 43240, in Claudette’s memory. Arrangements Entrusted to SCHOEDINGER EAST, 5360 E.
