Craig Steven Thimmes, age 54, of Indian Lake and formerly of Upper Arlington, passed away unexpectedly on August 30, 2024. Born November 19, 1969, in Cincinnati, Ohio, Craig was the son of the late Silas and Karen (Skony) Thimmes, and brother to the late Jay Alan Thimmes. A 1988 Upper Arlington High School graduate, Craig’s life was filled with passion and curiosity.
For over ten years, Craig worked at Germain Hyundai. He loved his career and, more importantly, the people he worked with. A history buff with a quick wit, Craig could make anyone laugh with his one-liners. He was also incredibly handy and spent countless hours restoring his Mazda Miata and doing projects at the lake. His compassion extended to all living things, and he never turned away a stray cat—his “Miss Kitty” being the most recent recipient of his kindness.
Craig loved adventure, especially skiing and boating. He loved visiting friends aboard his boat “Mavis” leaving a lasting impression on many. Known for his generosity, he never hesitated to help anyone in need. Craig enjoyed life’s simple pleasures—good company, great music, and sunsets at the lake with a beer in hand.
He will be deeply missed by his sister, Amy (Todd) Barcus; nephews Camden and Jake Barcus; uncle Jeff (Kathleen) Chrisman; cousin Robert Taylor; his “Plus One,” Elizabeth Haddock; and many extended family members and friends.
A celebration of Craig’s life will be held from 4-6 P.M. on Thursday, September 26, 2024, at SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST, 1740 Zollinger Rd., Columbus, Ohio. Friends and family will gather to share food, drinks, stories, and memories. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the United Way Indian Lake Tornado Relief Fund, https://secure.givelively.org/donate/united-way-of-logan-county-inc/indian-lake-tornado-relief-fund
