

Daniel was born on October 19, 1973 in Indianapolis to Douglas and Patricia (McMahon) Askew who survive. He served in the Navy, was a graduate of Columbus State with an associate’s degree in marketing, and attended The Ohio State University where he studied nursing, later becoming a nurse’s assistant and working at an assisted living facility where he was able to take care of his grandmother while she was there. Whether working on a machine, caring for the sick and elderly, or contributing his many talents, Daniel always worked hard and took pride in what he did, and valued his co-workers immensely. Daniel had an ongoing music DJ business fulfilling a childhood dream of his. He loved OSU and Indianapolis Colts football, the beach and summer trips to Tree Tops on Lake Champlain in Vermont with his family.
In addition to his parents, Daniel leaves behind his three children Alex Askew, Alisa Askew and Sarah (Johannes) Washington; his granddaughter Naomi Grace; brother Mike (Mary Kenelly) Askew; sister Jennifer Askew; niece Kaylee; nephew Zachary and numerous special friends, especially Chris Dreska and Milton “Porky” Kellner. He was preceded in death by grandparents Irene Leonardson, Arthur Askew and Dan and Jane McMahon.
Visitation will be held Friday, December 11, 2015 from 4-7PM at SCHOEDINGER NORTHEAST, 1051 E. Johnstown Rd., Gahanna. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday at 10:30AM at St. Matthew the Apostle Church in Gahanna with visitation one hour prior. Fathers Ogurchock, Sill and Black to concelebrate. Private interment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Charitable Works Committee at St. Matthew or a charity of one’s choice.
