

David H. Bolender, of Circleville, born April 6, 1925, passed away February 17, 2014, at the age of 88. He is the son of Byron and Jessie (Sampson) Bolender. He is preceded in death by his parents, loving wife Luella "Toody" and infant son Dwight David Bolender. He is survived by his sister Martha Hulse; daughters, Betty Jo (John) Hathaway, Bonnie B. (Mark) Disbrow, Barbara B. (Bob) Weber, and Brenda J. (Don) Willke; 9 grandchildren, Nate (Katie) Hathaway, Krysta (Mac) Hannon, Emily and Bradley Disbrow, David, Natalie and Lauren Weber, and Philip Willke and Renee (Mike) Stanley; great-granddaughter, Hayden Stanley; many nieces, nephews and friends. Dave served in the U.S. Army as a First SGT. during World War II. He and his wife owned and operated Green Meadow Farms Inc. which was the first farm to be incorporated in the state of Ohio in 1961. He earned the award for Ohio Farm Bureau outstanding young farmer of the year. Dave was a life long member of Washington Grange, St. Paul UMC of Stoutsville, 4-H member as a youth and on through the years as an adult Leader for Washington Hill Climbers Club (Charter Member), Amvets Post #2256, Laurelville VFW Post #8657 (Charter Member), Pickaway County Veterans Service Commission. He was also a member of Circleville Rotary Club (Paul Harris Fellow), Washington Twp. School board and president during the consolidation of Logan Elm District, Diabetes board, VFW Post #15036, Cattleman's Association (Charter Member), Farmers Club, Minor Chords Barbershop Society, and the Soil and Water Conservation District. Dave was a farmer through and through and did everything that is involved with being a farmer: electric, plumbing, weather man, etc. He was a very good problem solver and an optimist with a good sense of humor. He had also become known as a "chief packer" for all of his daughters and their moving adventures. Visitation will be 1 pm to 3 pm on Sunday at the Defenbaugh-Wise-Schoedinger funeral home. Funeral service with Military honors begins at 3 pm.
