

David had a lifelong love of writing and publishing. At an early age, he created and published a neighborhood newspaper, an early sign of the career that would follow. He graduated from Upper Arlington High School and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism from Ohio University. During his years at Ohio University, David formed lifelong friendships that he cherished deeply. David held various positions in public relations and marketing before eventually founding his own company, D. A. James and Associates. Among his professional accomplishments, David created the first in-house newsletter for Dave Thomas and Wendy’s International, aptly titled The Hamburger Herold. In addition to his career, David was an Air Force veteran and served on several Boards of Directors.
David is survived by his wife, Yovita Abupaulus; his brother and sister-in-law, Cameron and Nancy James; his nephews, Arthur L. James and Joseph A. (Sara) James; his niece, Catherine (Eric) Sturman, all of Columbus; and a niece, Nancy S. James, of Claremont, California. He is also survived by many cousins.
David loved fly fishing and pursued the sport throughout the country. Friends and neighbors knew they could always depend on him whenever help was needed.
Memorial Service will be held at 4 PM on Monday, February 16, 2026 at SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST, 1740 Zollinger Road, Columbus, Ohio, 43221, where a visitation will follow until 6:30 PM.
