David Rutledge Shaw, age 63, died Saturday March 25, 2017. He was born in Columbus, OH. David is survived by his loving wife and best friend Helara Gulbis Shaw; his mother, Annette, and many relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his father, James. He worked for the state for over 30 years but his real passion was smoking his pipes and Civil War reenactments. David was a Civil War reenactor and historian for over 40 years. He would often portray Rutherford B. Hayes and General George Sears Greene. David was a member of the Wooster Civil War Round Table and The Sons of Union Veterans. He will be missed by those who knew him. Family will be receiving friends at SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST CHAPEL 1740 Zollinger Road Upper Arlington, OH 43221 on Saturday April 1, 2017 from 10 AM until the time of service, 11 AM. Interment will follow at Kirkwood Cemetery 1600 US-42, London, OH 43140. At David's request, in lieu of flowers he asks contributions be made to the Ohio Civil War Show C/O Wayne Williams 2325 Stonewood Drive Lexington, OH 44904.
