

David James Shinn Jr., age 76, of Columbus, Ohio, died on August 12, 2025. Born on September 25, 1948, in Columbus, Jim lived a life marked by resilience, entrepreneurship, and a deep love for his family, nature, and the simple joys of life.
Jim was a self-employed entrepreneur who pursued his passions with determination and heart. He worked in food concessions for many years, where his love of food and connection with people shone through. He was known for his creativity, work ethic, and ability to find joy in everyday moments.
He was an avid lover of animals and spent many cherished years with his beloved dogs always by his side. He loved nature, going to the beach, and being outdoors. Whether cheering for his favorite football team—Go Blue!—enjoying food shows, playing slots at the casino, or spending time with family, Jim always found something to be passionate about. Despite facing health challenges, he never let them define his spirit.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, David and Jo Anne Shinn, and his sister, Debbie Jo Starkey. He is survived by his devoted wife, Linda (Earhart) Shinn; his sons, Jeffrey and Bradley; grandchildren Ashley, Maxwell, Courtney, and Chloe; and great-grandchildren Amelia and Quentin. He is also survived by his sister, Melody Anne Hallowes; nieces Amanda, Kathy, Elaine, and Holly; and nephews Denny Jr., Josh, and Jason.
Jim’s presence, humor, and love will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
A visitation will be held on Monday, August 25th, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Advantage by Schoedinger North, 5554 Karl Rd, Columbus, OH 43229.
