David Michael "Calhoun" Wills

A funeral service for David Michael “Calhoun” Wills, 64 of Newark will be held on Thursday, July 28, 2011 at 10:30 AM at the Criss-Schoedinger Funeral Home, with Pastor Carol Sue Hall officiating. Burial will follow at Hanover Cemetery.

David was born in Newark, Ohio on March 2, 1947 to the late Robert G. Wills and Rosalie (Skeese) Wills of Newark. He passed away at his residence on July 25, 2011 while surrounded by his family.

David worked at the Newark YMCA, Rockwell International and retired from Big Bear/Giant Eagle. He enjoyed riding bikes, fishing, crossword puzzles, word searches, watching comedies, big time wrestling and western movies, and was an avid Ohio State Football fan. He also loved spending time with his wife and entire family.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of 30 years, Ruth (Bennett) Wills, whom he married on June 6, 1981; sisters, Roberta (Keith) Furnish, Sharon (Albert) Cauley, and Sara (Ben) Petty; brothers, Gregory Wayne (Debbie) Wills and Steven Wills; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles. A special thanks to Violet, Hollie and Frank Price.

In addition to his father, he is preceded in death by one sister, Janet Wills.

Memorial contributions may be made in memory of David to the Licking County Aging Program, Meals on Wheels Program, 745 East Main Street, Newark, Ohio 43055.
