Dean Michael Stoecklin, age 40, passed away on Sunday, July 3, 2011, while on a mission trip in Costa Rica. He was born in Fort Riley, Kansas, and moved many times throughout his youth as part of a military family. He graduated from Papillion-La Vista High School in Nebraska, and continued his studies at the University of Nebraska. He graduated with a degree in finance and has worked for many years in banking technology, most recently at Insight Bank. He was a member of New Life Church, where he served as an usher and greeter, as well as co-leader of his small group. He had just begun participating in the mentorship program for boys without fathers at the church, and he was currently helping to advance the Gospel to the region of Costa Rica. Dean was a do-it-yourselfer, never afraid to tackle household projects, but he would always stop what he was doing to spend time with his 4 children. He did his best to live out Proverbs 22:6, “Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” He enjoyed reading, especially books that helped strengthen his faith, and he was a big fan of Cardinals baseball, Cornhuskers football, and hiking through Hocking Hills and state parks. He is survived by his loving wife of 9 years, Sabrina (Schommer) Stoecklin; children, Bryce, Reese, Hayden, and Naomi; parents, Duane and Shirley Stoecklin; siblings, Maria (Michael) Marois, Michele Stoecklin, and Denise (Jeremiah) Maddock; as well as other extended family members and wonderful friends. Family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday, July 9, 2011, at New Life Church, 3690 Stygler Road, Gahanna, where a funeral service and celebration of Dean’s life will begin at 12 p.m. Interment will follow at Mifflin Cemetery. Arrangements by the Schoedinger Northeast Chapel, (614) 939-4558. Visit www.schoedinger.com to share a favorite memory of Dean.
