

He served in the Navy during the Korean War and retired as a Captain from the Ohio Army National Guard. He was also employed with the Defense Logistics Agency and retired in 1987 with 37 years of service to his country. As a lifelong resident of Delaware County, Don gave many hours to his community. He was a member of the Olentangy Local School Board and served as President and was involved in the Athletic Boosters and Youth Athletic Association. Don was passionate about sports, particularly baseball. He was a member of the Orange High School baseball team that was runner-up in the state of Ohio in 1948. Don continued his love of baseball playing in the Heart of Ohio and Senior Softball Leagues of Delaware County well into his sixties. He also enjoyed coaching baseball and was instrumental in developing the Olentangy Youth Athletic Association and Booster Organization. He was inducted into the Olentangy Local Schools’ Hall of Fame for his leadership and devotion to youth athletic programs. Don also enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, gardening, and traveling.
He and his wife loved to travel all over the country and were proud to say they had visited all fifty states! Don Came from a large family of eleven children and was very involved with his immediate and extended family. Don was a devoted husband of sixty years to Bernadine, his high school sweetheart. He was a wonderful husband, loving father, and doting grandfather and great-grandfather. Don will be sadly missed by all.
Preceded in death by his parents, Curtis Dewitt Cutler, Sr. and Pearl Looney Cutler; siblings, Olive Cutler Joseph, Edith Cutler Crissinger, Richard Cutler, and Kathleen Cutler Fathbruckner. Don will be missed by his loving wife, Bernadine; children, Mark (Cindy) Cutler, Jerry (Kathy) Cutler, Lynn Cutler Wypasek, Jeff (Denise) Cutler, and Eddie (Libby) Cutler; grandchildren, Nicolette (Jason) Stark, Justin, Jessica, and Kaitlin Cutler, Alison and Courtney Wypasek, Sam Cutler, Jenica (Alston) Williamson, and Samantha Moffett; great-grandson, Jackson Cutler; and siblings, Waldo Cutler, Curtis (Patsy) Cutler, Elsie Ross, Barbara (Paul) Carter, Donna (Jim) McLane, and Alice (Calvin) Graham; and numerous nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends Friday, February 17, 2012 from 5-8 p.m. at SCHOEDINGER WORTHINGTON CHAPEL, 6699 N. High St., Columbus (Just south of I-270), where the funeral service will be held Saturday at 10 a.m., Rev. David Mabry and Rev. Tom Keene, co-officiating. Interment to follow service at Cheshire Cemetery.
