

Donald Lawrence Hensley, age 74 of Lewis Center, passed away September 18, 2012. Don was born and raised in New Albany, son of the late Lawrence and Mary Hensley. He is also preceded in death by his daughter, Kim Thompson. Don graduated from New Albany High School, Class of 1956 and while there, he was named all-county defensive end. He recently had been inducted into the New Albany Hall of Fame for football, basketball and track. Don was a very easy going, devoted and loving man. He loved to joke around and showed unconditional love to his family. Don was a U.S. Army Veteran and a devoted member of Local 189. He was an avid golfer and member of Blackhawk Golf Course, enjoyed playing cards, and was an OSU Buckeye fan. Most of all however, Don loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by his wife of 43 years, Thelma Hensley; daughters, Jenny (David) Hooie, Angie (Tim) Hensley-Secrest, Karen (Nate) Bricker Pino, and Lisa (Tim) Westman; son-in-law, Jeff Thompson; grandchildren, Audrey and Jake Secrest, Ian Thompson, and Katie, Nicole, and Sam Westman; brother, Philip Hensley; sister, Shirley (Bill) Dorn; and many other extended family members and dear friends. Funeral services will be held at 1 P.M. Sunday, September 23, 2012 at SCHOEDINGER NORTHEAST CHAPEL, 1051 E. Johnstown Rd., where family will receive friends from 11 A.M. until time of service.
