Donald V. Stout, 86, passed away Thursday, July 24, 2014. He was born November 2, 1927 in Columbus, Ohio to the late Vernor and Helen Stout. He was a son, brother, uncle, husband, father, and friend to so many. He was known to be stubborn, hardworking, trustworthy, mischievous, old fashioned, enjoyer of life, dedicated family man, breadwinner, wine maker, rose gardener, diehard euchre player, and pie/apple dumpling lover. He knew that family and friends were more important than your title or salary. Don was known for his crew cut hair which later in life turned into a full head of beautiful white hair and striking blue eyes. He served his country and God and was dedicated to his wife, Betty, for over 63 years. He was respected by all and loved his wife, Betty Stout, daughters, Vickie Stout and Linda Barber, grandson, Ryan Barber, sisters, Mary Buk, Martha Barber, Dorothy Wilson, and many nieces and nephews, Carol and Gary Wilson, John and Sherry Buk, Barb and David Taylor, Marilyn and Brad Hyatt, David and Tammy Barber, Dennis and Sheri Barber, Craig and Rebecca Barber, and Ed and Maria Barber and longtime friendships, including Corey and Lois Parollina and the congregation of St. James Lutheran Church. Don was afflicted with Alzheimer's disease in his last years. His spirit remained throughout and I know that Don appreciated the loving care and support from his family, friends, Our Family Home aides and the Methodist Eldercare Hospice staff. A remembrance memorial will be held 11 AM Tuesday, July 29, 2014 at St. James Lutheran Church, 5660 Trabue Rd., Columbus, Ohio 43228.
