

Doris E. Thompson, age 82, of Columbus, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, July 7, 2013. She was retired from Columbia Gas and was a member of Violet Baptist Church and their senior Joy group, member and past Matron of the Beacon Chapter #593 O.E.S., member of the West Columbus Christian Women's Club, member of the Reynoldsburg, Pickerington, and Canal Winchester Senior Centers, and a member of American Business Women Association. Doris loved to be around her family and friends. She also enjoyed reading, knitting, and most of all spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, of 46 years, Edgar; and parents, Clarence Harper and Hazel Burgoon. Survived by children, Deby (Steve) Atkins of Blacklick, Vicki (Stephen) Roberts of St. Cloud, FL, Keith Brian Thompson of Tok, AK, Gloria (Paul) Coyan of Pataskala, and Sandi (Harry) Adams of Whitehall; grandchildren, Kim (Tom) Watkins, Tami (Harvey) Muncy, Michael (Shanna) Ritchie, Victor Brown, Mindy Elick, Kristina (Brian) Kellenbarger, Jarrod Atkins, Jason, Matthew and Nicole (Jerry) Coyan; 16 great-grandchildren; brother, Jack Boling; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday July 10, 2013 at the SCHOEDINGER EAST CHAPEL, 5360 E. Livingston Ave. with an O.E.S. service at 7:30 p.m. Funeral service will be held 1:30 p.m. Thursday with Pastor Rick Williams officiating. Interment Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. Contributions may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation in memory of Doris.
