Dorothy Eloise Hoddy, age 92, went peacefully to be with the Lord on Sunday morning October 23, 2011. Born May 28, 1919 on the family farm in Galloway, Ohio, the only child of John Arthur and Leola Virginia Livezey. She was a graduate of Grove City HS class of 1937. She served and belonged to various organizations too numerous to mention. She was a lifetime member of Galloway Presbyterian Church where she served as a Deacon and actively participated and supported in various church functions. Eloise was known for her delicious pies, especially Dutch apple. She never met an animal she didn’t love and adopted every stray that found its way to the farm. She especially loved to serve her family with big family get-togethers. No one could read a book to a child like her and all of the children, grandchildren and great grandchildren loved to climb on her lap and listen again and again. We all remember being held as she sang and rocked us until falling asleep in her arms. She was the apple of her husband’s eye from the day he met her. Bob and Eloise celebrated their 69th Anniversary July 25th. She will be greatly missed by her family who remembers her in love, honor, and joy. Eloise was preceded in death by her parents, her baby daughter, Judith Ann Hoddy, and her daughter-in-law Mary Anne Hoddy. She is survived by her sweetheart and husband, Glenn Robert Hoddy;, son, John Hoddy; daughters, Rebecca (Ken) Case, Christine (Burt) Smith; grandchildren, John C. (Michele) Hoddy, Sarah “Beezie” Hall, Michael (Grace) Hoddy, Nathan (Yuri) Smith, Charley Case, Philip (Juhee) Smith, Rebecca (Chris) Knudsen, and great- grandchildren, Joshua Hall, Zachary Hall, Kayleigh Hall, Eloise Knudsen, and Liberty Smith. She is also survived by her best friend from childhood, Mae Steinhoff. Funeral services will be held at 9:30 A.M. Saturday, October 29, 2011 at SCHOEDINGER GROVE CITY CHAPEL, 3920 Broadway, where family will receive friends from 6-8 P.M. Thursday, October 27, 2011. Interment Galloway Cemetery.
