Duane Charles Steele

Duane C. Steele of Shelby Township, Michigan passed away comfortably February 28, 2015 in Columbus, Ohio. He was born December 4, 1935 in Lake Odessa, Michigan. Duane was a loving father, grandfather, and wonderful companion. He was helpful, intelligent, and adventurous. Duane had an excellent sense of humor. He grew up on a farm and knew the value of hard work. He will be missed by all who had the privilege to know and love him.Duane is survived by son Spence Steele and Denise Radcliff of Upper Arlington, Ohio; son Rexford Steele and wife Kim Obele of Loveland, Colorado; grandsons John and Andy Steele also of Ohio; long- time companion Alice Champion of Waterford, Michigan; sister Reatha Rudy of Bellingham, Washington; brother Kendall and wife Joyce Steele of Lake Odessa, Michigan; sister Verlene and husband Tom Rhoades of Clarksville, Michigan; brother Roy (Jerry) Steele of New York, New York; and Duane's former wife JoAnne Steele of Fort Collins, Colorado.Duane graduated from Western Michigan University and had master's degrees from Ohio State University. He had a successful career as a chemist and research manager. He held two patents. He greatly enjoyed his retirement and traveled the world often. He loved unusual places and a favorite destination was Thailand. He also enjoyed skiing and made many trips to Colorado to ski. His favorite thing was to be with family and grandchildren.
